This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Database Administrator in India, Estonia, Spain, Serbia, Poland, Romania, and United Arab Emirates.
As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing complex database environments to ensure data integrity, security, and high availability. You will collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to design and implement efficient database architectures, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues to keep critical systems running smoothly. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment where your expertise directly supports data-driven decision-making and business operations. You will also play a key role in improving database performance, implementing best practices, and ensuring the seamless operation of production databases.
Accountabilities:
- Support and guide developers on database design, coding, and best practices
- Review and approve database-related code developed by the engineering teams
- Monitor database health, performance metrics, and respond to alerts including errors, locks, and deadlocks
- Perform maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, engine upgrades, data migrations, and parameter adjustments
- Create database functions, triggers, and maintain data integrity
- Identify performance bottlenecks and provide optimization recommendations
- Ensure databases remain secure, reliable, and highly available for business-critical applications
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience administering production PostgreSQL databases
- Proficiency in SQL queries, including advanced functions such as window functions
- Strong skills in database programming, creating triggers, functions, and stored procedures
- Experience in data modeling, including designing tables and relationships
- Competency in performance tuning and troubleshooting live database issues
- Familiarity with tools such as Git (version control), Docker, and Kubernetes
- Experience with other RDBMS or NoSQL databases is a plus
- Nice-to-have: 1+ year experience in high-level programming and managing cloud databases (AWS, GCP)
