Senior Network Engineer & Automation Specialist (Sines, Portugal)

Note: This role is based around the Sines area and is open to candidates relocating to the location of the job from across Portugal.

Job Role Function

• Manage, maintain, and monitor enterprise networking infrastructure.
• Support networking projects in technical matters and coordinate both internal and external stakeholders and partners.
• Work with the local IT team and service management consulting team in the resolution of incidents and problems.
• Document and guarantee network changes comply with cybersecurity, IT, and Operational Technology (OT) standards.
• Collaborate closely with IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, and Automation team groups.
• Work in conjunction with the Application Management team to avoid business disruption in critical systems.
• Drive process improvement as part of a transformational roadmap, considering Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in monitoring and proactive problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design, implementation, migration, and maintenance of projects focusing on Networking, Automation, and OT Security solutions.
• Actively develop automation engineering solutions, identify areas for automation, and work with operations teams to implement solutions.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and third parties or vendors to provide an overall excellent IT service.
• Proactively seek opportunities for continuous networking improvement based on expansion and transformational technologies, proposing improvement activities.
• Use standard enterprise tools to log, track, and close activities for both support and projects.
• Implement new networking designs and changes based on enterprise IT, cybersecurity, and OT standards.

• Work on proactive monitoring of RPA-based systems to anticipate networking issues.
• Coordinate closely with the Automation team regarding new equipment acquisition and the integration of networking into the existing setup.
• Manage local, regional, and global stakeholders to establish best practices and standards across other operational sites and facilities.

Technical Skills

• Network Administration: Solid background in network administration.
• Network Supervision Tools: In-depth experience in Cisco network supervision tools and components.
• Load Balancer: Proven hands-on experience with F5 load balancers.
• Routing & Security: Knowledge and experience in Routing, Switching, Troubleshooting (TShot), VPN, and Firewalls (Cisco, Check Point, or Palo Alto).
• Firewall Configuration: Firewall configuration expertise (Palo Alto, Umbrella, Fortinet).
• Protocols & Architecture: Knowledge of networks, technologies, and security protocols (Radius, IPv4/IPv6, NAT, DNS, DHCP, Outdoor Wireless, IPS/IDS).
• Switching: Solid understanding of Switching and Multicast.
• Virtualization: Solid knowledge in Virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware).
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Knowledge of Dynatrace, monitoring, and other troubleshooting scanning tools.
• Automation: Preferred/welcome knowledge in the usage of RPA for proactive networking monitoring.
• Advanced Technology: Knowledge of advanced technology solutions such as Fluidmesh.

Qualifications / Education

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Network Engineering or a related technical field.
• CCNA and CCNP certifications.
• Fluent in English.
