ECLSS Engineer in GERMANY

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented ECLSS Engineer to help us in our mission by defining and following the design and development of the Environment Control and Life Support Sub-system (ECLSS) components and conducting sub-system fluidic analyses.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as a ECLSS Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

  • Perform component-level design trades and assist with the component selection process.
  • Flow down the sub-system requirements to component requirements.
  • Interface with the suppliers as technical responsible for the procurement, development, verification, and validation of components.
  • Conduct analyses to determine the performance of the sub-system (with CFD analysis software and EcosimPro).
  • Support the development, verification, and validation of the sub-system, especially test campaigns.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure the integration of components at the spacecraft level.
  • Support the creation of detailed engineering documentation, including test plans, reports, and specifications.
  • Contribute to design reviews and provide technical feedback to suppliers and customers.
  • Support the definition and integrated testing of software features for the ECLSS application.
  • Support mission operations and define subsystem-related procedures and operational constraints.

What we would love to see from you

In the role of ECLSS Engineer ideally, you will have the following:

  • Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience working on spacecraft or relevant systems.
  • Basic understanding of CFD analyses and CAD design tools such as NX.
  • Familiarity with 2D fluidic analysis tools, such as ecoSIM Pro, is an asset.
  • Hands-on hardware experience in fabrication, assembly, and testing of fluidic components is a plus.
  • Comfortable using python and Github.
  • Fluent in English. French and German is an asset
