Job Description

About The Role

The role owns the day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, and compliance frameworks, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience for all team members across the organization.

This position partners closely with department heads and the wider people team to implement scalable HR programs, manage benefits administration, oversee onboarding/offboarding, and ensure absolute compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws in a remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end employee onboarding and offboarding processes, coordinating with IT, payroll, and hiring managers to deliver a frictionless experience.
  • Administer comprehensive benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k), leave of absence, and open enrollment, serving as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and municipal employment laws, maintaining accurate digital employee files and leading regular HR audits.
  • Partner with managers to resolve sensitive employee relations issues, conducting objective investigations and advising on performance management plans.
  • Own human resources information system (HRIS) data integrity, running regular audits, updating employee records, and generating headcount, turnover, and engagement reports for leadership.
  • Draft, update, and implement company-wide policies, employee handbooks, and standard operating procedures as the business scales.

What We Are Looking For

  • 3-6 years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Operations role, preferably within a fast-growing technology or remote-first company.
  • Strong working knowledge of multi-state employment law, including CA, WA, and NY compliance regulations.
  • Hands-on administrative experience with modern HRIS platforms (such as Rippling, BambooHR, or Workday) and payroll systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with extreme discretion and professional judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of clearly conveying complex policy information to employees.
  • Bonus: SHRM-CP or PHR certification; experience supporting a fully remote workforce.
