About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Elixir/Phoenix Developer (Contractor) to support the development of our next-generation Customer Portal. This platform will empower our customers with real-time visibility into service status, ticketing, bandwidth usage, and other critical insights.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a greenfield project that will integrate with multiple enterprise systems and leverage modern backend technologies for performance, scalability, and real-time data processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain application features using Elixir/Phoenix.
• Integrate with enterprise platforms including NetSuite, SiteTracker, OpenNMS, NetAce, and Aspen.
• Implement and manage Kafka-based event-driven data pipelines.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas and queries.
• Retrieve and process data from a MariaDB database.
• Develop secure, performant, and scalable application components.
• Collaborate with DevOps, developers, and stakeholders in an Agile workflow.
• Conduct code reviews, testing, and participate in the CI/CD process.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Elixir/Phoenix.
• 3+ years of experience with PostgreSQL, including advanced SQL and performance tuning.
• 2+ years of experience working with Kafka for real-time streaming/event-driven architecture.
• Demonstrated experience integrating with enterprise systems such as NetSuite, SiteTracker, OpenNMS, NetAce, and Aspen.
• Experience handling multi-database environments including MariaDB.
• 3+ years of front-end experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and real-time communication protocols.
• Experience with containerization using Docker-
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) – nice to have.
• Comfortable working in an Agile development environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in telecommunications, network monitoring, or infrastructure services.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices for CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with front-end frameworks like LiveView, React, or Vue.js

Contract Details

Full-time contractor (40 hours/week)

Duration: 6–12 months with possibility of extension

Remote work with occasional collaboration across time zones
