Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical & Thermal Design: Define and specify the mechanical and thermal architecture for advanced space systems, including subsystems, components, and interconnections.
- Analysis & Simulation: Utilize industry-leading tools like Solidworks, Nastran/ANSYS, or COMSOL to simulate and justify designs using finite element models and simulations.
- Team Leadership: Manage the mechanical development team, provide support, distribute tasks, and track progress with internal and subcontracted teams.
- Prototyping & Testing: Model, simulate, and test critical mechanical and thermal components. Develop test plans and ensure the highest quality with rigorous testing protocols.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs with other subsystems, such as electronics, AIT, and system engineering.
- Process & Methodology: Define and implement development processes and best practices for mechanical and thermal design.
What They’re Looking For:
- Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 5-8 years of experience in mechanical design for space equipment, with proficiency in Solidworks (or CATIA) and Nastran/ANSYS (or COMSOL).
- Skills: Knowledge of ECSS space norms (or similar) and V-cycle development methodology. Fluency in English is essential. Additional experience in managing mechanical and thermal analysis is a plus.
- Software: MS Office proficiency is required.
