Key Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs in Ruby on Rails
Model data and write efficient PostgreSQL queries, indexes and safe migrations
Find and fix performance problems: N+1 queries, slow endpoints, heavy jobs
Build reliable background processing with Sidekiq, including retries, idempotency and monitoring
Use AI coding agents daily for development, testing, refactoring, debugging and code review, and verify their output carefully
Create and improve reusable AI skills, prompts and agent workflows that speed up the team
Write well-tested code (RSpec, request specs) and take part in code reviews
Work with front-end, product and QA teams to define API contracts
Monitor production health, investigate incidents and ship fixes
Document APIs and technical decisions clearly for a distributed team

Experience with Redis caching and Sidekiq/Resque at scale
Experience with observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, Sentry)
