Key Responsibilities
Own and maintain product roadmaps for publishing systems, prioritizing enhancements and development initiatives based on business impact and user needs

Manage product backlogs and collaborate with editorial, production, finance, and technology teams to define priorities and deliver effective solutions
Identify workflow challenges and opportunities for improvement, developing scalable solutions aligned with organizational objectives
Coordinate user acceptance testing activities and ensure successful adoption of new features and platform enhancements
Establish and maintain system quality assurance processes, including testing programs to identify performance issues and prevent platform regressions
Analyze usability data, user feedback, and system metrics to generate actionable insights and guide future product development
Ensure publishing platforms meet accessibility, privacy, and regulatory requirements, including relevant digital standards and compliance expectations
Provide technical guidance and operational support to internal teams, serving as a subject matter expert for publishing systems
Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including performance reviews, service agreements, and enhancement coordination
Monitor system performance, budgets, and project progress while communicating updates and recommendations to stakeholders
Partner with technology teams and external providers to troubleshoot issues, evaluate solutions, and support system improvements

Accountabilities

The Digital Product Manager, Publishing Systems is responsible for owning the product strategy, roadmap, and execution of publishing technology platforms. This role drives improvements across digital workflows, manages stakeholder priorities, and ensures systems continue to support evolving operational and user needs.

  • Own and maintain product roadmaps for publishing systems, prioritizing enhancements and development initiatives based on business impact and user needs.
  • Lead end-to-end implementation of workflow improvements, system configurations, and software updates, including planning, testing, deployment coordination, and stakeholder communication.
  • Manage product backlogs and collaborate with editorial, production, finance, and technology teams to define priorities and deliver effective solutions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong product management experience, technical knowledge of publishing systems, and the ability to lead complex initiatives independently while collaborating across multiple teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant professional experience in product management, digital platforms, publishing technology, or related areas.
  • Experience developing and managing product strategies for complex digital products or information systems.
  • Strong knowledge of publishing technologies, digital workflows, industry trends, and technology implementation practices.
  • Experience managing product lifecycles, roadmaps, backlogs, system enhancements, and platform improvements.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Experience working with electronic publishing platforms, peer review systems, or content management technologies preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence teams and present complex concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage projects with significant ownership.
