This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Cloud & Managed Services based in Canada.

This executive technology leadership role is responsible for shaping cloud strategy, managed services operations, and platform engineering capabilities within a growing digital health environment.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams focused on cloud operations, automation, reliability, and scalable deployment solutions.

The role combines strategic vision with hands-on operational leadership to improve platform maturity and customer outcomes.

You will collaborate with engineering, product, security, professional services, and customer teams to deliver secure and high-performing cloud solutions.

With a strong focus on automation, DevOps practices, and operational excellence, you will drive modernization across SaaS and managed service environments.

Accountabilities

The Director, Cloud & Managed Services will define and execute the strategy for cloud operations, platform engineering, and managed services delivery. This role requires strong leadership across technology, operations, security, and customer-facing initiatives to support business growth and continuous improvement.

  • Lead and scale cloud operations, managed services, and platform engineering teams to support organizational growth and customer success.
  • Define and execute strategic roadmaps for cloud platforms, deployment automation, infrastructure automation, and operational capabilities.
  • Establish strong IT program management frameworks, governance structures, delivery methodologies, and operational best practices.
  • Oversee the development and evolution of automation tooling, deployment pipelines, CI/CD processes, Infrastructure-as-Code practices, and platform capabilities.
  • Drive DevOps and platform engineering maturity through standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure SaaS platforms and cloud-hosted services achieve high availability, scalability, security, and operational readiness.
  • Partner with engineering, product, security, professional services, and customer success teams to improve delivery and customer experience.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, understanding business needs, expectations, service requirements, and long-term objectives.
  • Support strategic business activities including customer engagements, proposals, pricing discussions, contracts, and technology planning.
  • Manage incident resolution and operational improvements by collaborating with internal teams and ensuring adherence to ITIL and organizational practices.
  • Ensure cloud environments comply with security frameworks, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Manage strategic priorities, budgets, resources, and investments to maximize business impact.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience leading cloud operations, managed services, and technology transformation initiatives in complex enterprise environments. They combine technical expertise, strategic leadership, and strong customer engagement skills.

  • 7+ years of experience in senior cloud operations, IT leadership, or managed services roles with experience delivering complex technology initiatives.
  • Experience supporting or consulting with clients on large-scale cloud and technology transformation projects, ideally within healthcare technology or regulated industries.
  • 5+ years of experience with IT service management frameworks, including networking, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise support, and operational best practices.
  • 3+ years of experience working with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes engineering teams to deliver modern technology solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams across cloud engineering, DevOps, software engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale cloud operations and managed service capabilities while maintaining a strong customer focus.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to align technology programs with business priorities and drive organizational change.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud technologies, automation frameworks, deployment models, and modern platform engineering practices.
  • Experience building or managing automation platforms using Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, or similar approaches.
  • Experience managing client contracts, service-level agreements, vendor relationships, and contractual obligations.
  • Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, budgeting, and financial management.
  • Experience implementing observability solutions including logging, monitoring, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and industry standards such as ITIL, HITRUST, ISO 27001/27017/27018, and SOC 2.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISM, CCSP, CISSP, ITIL, or TOGAF are considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
