Description
The heart of a spacecraft lies in its engine, and that's why we, at The Exploration Company, are dedicated to developing our own cutting-edge Propulsion Systems ensuring the highest level of efficiency and reliability in our space endeavours. We are seeking a talented Thrust Chamber Assembly Design Engineer to join our propulsion systems division. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing Thrust Chamber Assembly for cryogenic rocket engines.
Key Responsibilities
As the Thrust Chamber Assembly Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the functional and hydraulic design of the Thrust Chamber Assembly including combustion chambers, nozzles, injectors, and cooling channels.
- Ensure compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, safety regulations and carrying out trades to define combustion device architecture.
- Conduct structural, thermal, and fluid dynamic analyses to ensure performance and reliability under operational conditions.
- Validate designs through prototype testing and analysis, iterating as necessary to meet performance goals.
- Lead combustion devices components and assembly test campaigns (configuration definition, test preparation, execution and results analyses).
- Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project planning activities.
What We Would Love To See From You
LocationYou will perform your duties principally at the Company's premises in Bordeaux and may be required to travel from time to time to our company's premises in Torino and Munich in the course of your duties.
What we would love to see from youIn the role of Thrust Chamber Assembly Design Engineer ideally, you will have the following:
- Master's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, or related field; advanced degree (Masters or PhD) preferred.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in rocket engine component design, with a focus on thrust chamber assemblies.
- Hands-on experience developing hardware from concept to working prototypes
- Strong technical fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer
- A system engineering approach to problem-solving and design trades
- Experience with manufacturing processes for aerospace components, including additive manufacturing and high-precision machining.
- Knowledge of materials selection, particularly for high-temperature and cryogenic applications.
- Experience using CAD to design parts/assemblies is an asset
- Fluent in English. French is an asset
