About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and intellectually curious Financial Data Analyst to shape the future of financial data at Instacart. In this role, you will design and implement data models, pipelines, and reporting infrastructure that enable our Finance and Accounting teams to access trusted insights at scale. Your work will be pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of financial data, supporting large-scale system initiatives, and optimizing cloud spend within our AWS environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions, automate decision-making tools, and support revenue accounting processes. Leveraging cutting-edge AI and ML technologies, you will help reimagine how financial data is modeled, automated, and delivered, accelerating insights and fostering strategic growth. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations, enabling leadership to make informed decisions with confidence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
• 5+ years (7+ preferred) of experience in analytics, analytics engineering, or financial systems/data roles
• Strong proficiency in SQL and cloud data fundamentals, with hands-on experience in Snowflake, dbt, and BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
• Experience building and maintaining complex data pipelines emphasizing accuracy, compliance, and traceability
• Familiarity with financial data structures, accounting processes, and enterprise systems like Oracle, Workday, Salesforce, or Adaptive
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
• Preferred: Experience with SOX compliance, high-growth tech environments, large-scale financial systems, project management, cloud cost management (AWS), and AI/ML applications in data analytics

Responsibilities

• Translate complex business requirements into scalable, reliable data models and pipelines that create measurable impact
• Lead end-to-end data initiatives, transforming ambiguous ideas into well-defined, high-impact projects with clear deliverables
• Design and automate dashboards, reports, and models to surface actionable insights and support strategic decision-making
• Develop and maintain data products that underpin Revenue Accounting, including embedded revenue recognition logic
• Ensure compliance with SOX, audit readiness, and enforce data governance standards across all financial datasets
• Implement validation, monitoring, and reconciliation frameworks to maintain data integrity and reliability
• Identify opportunities for process automation, system enhancements, and efficiency improvements within Finance and Accounting functions
• Leverage AI and ML tools such as Snowflake Cortex, Mode AI, and Python ML libraries to innovate financial data modeling and automation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support large-scale financial and operational systems, ensuring seamless data integration and reporting
