We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator with expertise in Postgres and AWS cloud database technologies to design, implement, and maintain high-performance, secure, and scalable data solutions. This role focuses on optimizing cloud-based database environments, automating workflows, and ensuring reliability for mission-critical applications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with DevOps, QA, and development teams to deliver robust database solutions while mentoring team members and staying current with emerging technologies. You will drive performance tuning, monitoring, and disaster recovery processes, helping to maintain data integrity and operational excellence across the organization. Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable cloud-based database architectures
- Manage and optimize Postgres and AWS database environments (Aurora, RDS, Redshift, S3) for high availability and performance
- Perform query tuning, indexing, and database performance optimization
- Maintain backups, replication, and disaster recovery processes
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance
- Develop automation scripts and integrate databases into CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and PowerShell
- Monitor database activity and performance using observability tools like DataDog
- Collaborate with DevOps, QA, and Development teams to fulfill data needs and support projects
- Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on best practices
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in Database Administration with Postgres
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with AWS database services: Aurora, RDS, Redshift, and S3
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing, virtualization, and IaaS platforms
- Hands-on experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell)
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes and infrastructure automation
- Experience with data observability and monitoring tools (e.g., DataDog)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating across teams
