This client requires a Senior Data Architect to lead the strategic design and governance of their modern data estate, with a primary focus on Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Services. You will be the technical authority responsible for architecting scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that unify data from clinical, administrative, and operational systems across the enterprise.
What You'll Do
- Architect and govern the enterprise data platform, focusing on the implementation of Microsoft Fabric components, including Lakehouse, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and Real-Time Analytics.
- Lead the design of data models (e.g., relational, dimensional, and NoSQL) to support high-performance reporting, analytics, and self-service capabilities across the organisation.
- Define the strategy and architecture for the client's Data Mesh/Data Fabric implementation, promoting data governance, quality, and discoverability.
- Design and implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, or Fabric Dataflow Gen2, ensuring data integration is secure and reliable.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on data security, privacy, and compliance within Azure and Fabric environments, ensuring adherence to healthcare standards.
- Mentor and guide data engineering teams on best practises for cloud-native development, performance optimisation, and code quality.
- Evaluate and select appropriate Azure and Fabric technologies to solve complex data challenges, such as real-time data ingestion and large-scale data processing.
What You'll Bring
- 8+ years of progressive professional experience in data architecture, data warehousing, or enterprise data management.
- Mandatory hands-on architectural experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or deep expertise with Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Expert-level knowledge of cloud data services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and Azure SQL Database.
- Deep understanding of modern data modelling techniques (e.g., Data Vault, Dimensional Modelling, Data Mesh principles).
- Expert proficiency in SQL and strong familiarity with Python or Scala for data processing and pipeline development.
- Proven experience defining and implementing data governance, security, and access control models in a regulated environment.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to present complex technical roadmaps to C-level and executive stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
