Intermediate Site Reliability Engineer, GitLab Delivery - Release and Deploy in
EMEA.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of software engineering and operations to optimize and automate the release and deployment processes for a large-scale SaaS platform. You'll collaborate closely with backend and infrastructure teams to build reliable, scalable systems that ensure smooth and efficient code delivery. This position combines deep technical problem-solving with high-impact collaboration, offering the opportunity to design frameworks, improve observability, and drive automation across a globally distributed engineering organization.
Accountabilities
- Guarantee and continuously improve the reliability and efficiency of the release process
- Develop and maintain tools to automate and streamline software releases and deployments
- Collaborate with backend engineers to design solutions that enable safe and rapid code delivery
- Build frameworks and systems that allow code to scale seamlessly with increasing demand
- Enhance system observability by helping teams instrument their code for better monitoring and alerting
- Work with infrastructure peers to manage the operational impact of code changes in production environments
- Monitor release metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement process optimizations
- Communicate release schedules and updates effectively across engineering and operations teams
Requirements
- Strong experience with release engineering, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment strategies
- Proven background managing large-scale systems in complex, distributed environments
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies
- Solid understanding of monitoring, observability, and system performance optimization
- A product-oriented mindset, focusing on scalable and maintainable solutions
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a remote and asynchronous setting
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a strong desire to continuously learn and improve
