AUTOMATION AND CONTROLS ENGINEER
This role is for an engineer who thrives on building and driving automation projects forward. You’ll be at the center of designing, programming, and implementing new automation systems, then making sure they run reliably on the production floor. The company has committed to a large-scale automation investment, with multiple new cells being added over the next several years, and needs someone who is motivated, hands-on, and ready to lead the charge.
You’ll be deeply involved in programming, integration, and start-up of robotic and automated systems, collaborating with production and engineering teams to ensure success. This role requires a mix of technical skill and grit; someone who can both design on paper and make it work in reality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement automation systems, including robotics and controls.
- Program, integrate, and troubleshoot automation equipment during installation and start-up.
- Lead projects from concept through commissioning and hand-off to production.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure smooth adoption of new systems.
- Optimize automated processes to improve throughput, reduce downtime, and enhance quality.
- Support the rollout of multiple new automation cells planned over the next several years.
- Provide guidance and training to operators and technicians on new equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in automation, robotics, or controls engineering.
- Practical experience with robot programming, preferably Fanuc.
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, and PLC platforms (Allen Bradley, Siemens or similar).
- Demonstrated experience commissioning and troubleshooting automation systems.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to put in extra effort during major launches.
