AI Engineering Director in
the United States.
The AI Engineering Director will lead technical strategy and delivery for high-impact, enterprise-scale AI initiatives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. This role combines deep expertise in AI/ML, large language models, and data architecture with executive-level stakeholder management. The position requires driving architectural vision, coaching distributed engineering teams, and shaping AI capabilities that deliver measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate will influence technical direction, support sales engagements, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. Accountabilities
- Lead AI solution architecture and technical delivery for enterprise projects, ensuring scalable and maintainable systems
- Serve as the technical face for client engagements, collaborating with CTOs, SVPs, and product leaders
- Design, validate, and present frontier AI/ML solutions, including LLMs, data pipelines, and cloud-native implementations
- Coach and align distributed engineering teams across regions to maintain architectural consistency and delivery quality
- Influence technical strategy, support pre-sales activities, and communicate AI capabilities to executive stakeholders
- Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, and data-sensitive requirements, particularly in healthcare or similar domains
- Provide thought leadership on AI best practices, model lifecycle management, and integration into enterprise environments
Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) in engineering leadership roles, ideally in AI/ML or software development
- Strong technical expertise in AI, ML systems, LLMs, data pipelines, and cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Demonstrated success in enterprise-scale architecture and delivery in regulated or data-sensitive contexts
- Exceptional executive presence and ability to influence C-level stakeholders
- Experience leading or mentoring globally distributed engineering teams
- Strong consulting, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to navigate complex client environments
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees preferred
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Java, Scala, or equivalent for data processing and AI implementation
- Hands-on experience with GenAI solution architecture, model selection, fine-tuning, and enterprise integration
- Familiarity with diverse data types (text, image, video) and techniques like anomaly detection, forecasting, and feature engineering
