Role Summary & Role Description

As a senior data protection Engineer, your main responsibility will be to cover all aspects of engineering & delivery via the ITIL guided practices. We would like the person to be a SME in this area and if not, have aspirations to become a SME, we will help you get there. This role will provide you with the opportunity to help us change our culture and drive change across the product set of data resiliency solutions. Together we will try and work on improving the technology stack both internally and in the cloud for an enhanced user experience, one we can be proud of.

What You’ll Do

• Be accountable for all engineering elements, identifying, developing and delivering service improvement & business initiatives for our backup and recovery solutions on-prem & cloud storage services
• Ensure alignment of platform and technical strategies with strategic vision and objectives through research and design
• Evaluate and observe industry trends in support of continuous improvement of recoverability capabilities, and security improvements.
• Act as the focal for audit inquiries for the responsible platforms
• Provide oversight for managed service providers managing the environment
• Review and updated documentation for responsible platforms
• Act as a Level 4 Subject Matter Expert in resolving problems
• Ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the environment
• Work closely with security teams to ensure accurate monitoring and reporting capabilities
• Never accept what we have is good enough, work with the operations team to look through analysis and monitoring of Storage availability and performance levels against documented SLAs to identify areas of service improvement
• Pro-actively review and assess the storage estate where action is needed in order to ensure sufficiently high availability.
• Be passionate about Resiliency, and data protection. Identify configuration, upgrades or changes to ensure continued resilience & availability.
• Manage by the metrics, if we don’t have them, bring them in to enhance reporting on availability & capacity status which lead to non-subjective actions to correct any potential deficiencies.
• Estimate the future demand, we know this is hard but it is something we want to get done for capacity based on performance, capacity & utilization measurements plus potential demand from client relationship teams.
• A focus on prevention rather than fix to ensure SLA's and service excellence are managed and maintained.

• Excellent Communication Skills
• Cobalt Iron or Spectrum Protect experience, with other enterprise data protection solutions.
• Linux operating system, understanding of network and system security.
• Scripting experience with Python or other programing languages.
• Experience in working in various time zones

Work Schedule

• Officer Working (4-5 days at office, depending on organization requirements)
• Schedule – 2 pm to 11 pm IST
