AIX Administrator | AIX Analyst in MALAYSIA

We are seeking experienced AIX professionals to join our team in operational and engineering roles to support our AIX environment across multiple levels. These positions are essential to maintaining the stability and reliability of systems operating in a fast-paced, 24x7x365 environment. We are seeking candidates with hands-on operational or engineering experience in AIX systems, preferably with WebSphere and Retail or Pharmacy application experience. Successful candidates will thrive under pressure, provide reliable support, and contribute to the ongoing performance and optimization of the systems.


This position is 100% remote and we do anticipate it will extend longer than the initial 6 months.


Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support AIX operating systems on Power 8/9 servers.
  • Monitor and maintain system stability, including backup and recovery of operating systems and third-party system software libraries.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot middleware, specifically WebSphere MQ.
  • Respond to system alerts and critical errors, providing first-level analysis and troubleshooting for system error and exception messages.
  • Escalate issues as necessary and follow through to resolution.
  • Monitor software usage to identify and address obsolete licensed software.
  • Ensure replication functions are monitored and maintained.
  • Utilize ServiceNow ITSM tool for ticket management and operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support Retail Pharmacy applications and other business-critical environments.
  • Contribute to capacity planning, system performance tuning, and continuous process improvement initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of hands-on operational or system administration experience with AIX environments.
  • Experience with AIX operating systems (v7.x) ideally on Power 8/9 servers.
  • Familiarity with WebSphere MQ middleware is a strong plus.
  • Experience in Retail or Pharmacy applications is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of AIX logical volume management (LVM)
  • Experience with PowerHA clustering and system redundancy
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Korn, Bash) for automation
  • Understanding of NIM (Network Installation Management)
  • Experience with HMC (Hardware Management Console)
  • Working knowledge of Virtual I/O Server (VIOS)

  • System performance monitoring and optimization
  • User account management and access control
  • Backup and recovery procedures using TSM or similar tools
  • Basic network troubleshooting
  • Implementation of security patches and fixes
  • Configuration of filesystems and storage devices
