As a Full Stack Engineer you will join a small but experienced team of Software Engineers and Software Testers to work with the existing stack to develop new features for our (much loved!) customers. 🙌 The role of a Full Stack Software Engineer

You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment.

As a Full Stack Developer, you should be comfortable around both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks and third-party libraries. A strong knowledge of programming languages including JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5 is essential. If you’re also familiar with Agile methodologies and version control systems, we’d like to meet you.

You should also be a team player with a knack for visual design and utility. Specific details of the role can be found in the attached Job Description and Person Specification.

We are seeking a colleague to fit the ethos and culture of the company. You will be joining a small but friendly team of professionals who put customer service and experience at the heart of what we do. 

The main responsibilities as a Full Stack Software Engineer are:  

• Work with the development team to ideate software solutions 
• Design client-side and server-side architecture 
• Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design 
• Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications 
• Write effective APIs 
• Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency 
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software 
• Ensure data encryption and security
• Build features and applications with a mobile responsive design 
• Write technical documentation 
• Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experiences: 

• Experience developing SaaS and mobile applications 
• Familiarity with common stacks 
• Knowledge of multiple front end-languages and Javascript libraries (i.e. HTML5, CSS5, SASS, JavaScript, jQuery, ReactJS and React Native)
• Knowledge of multiple back-end languages (i.e. PHP, Node.js, Python) 
• Familiarity with databases (i.e. Postgres, NoSQL), web servers (i.e. Apache, Nginx) and responsive UI/UX design 
• Ability to use different operating systems including Windows/Linux/Android/iOS platforms 
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
• Great attention to detail
• Organizational skills 
• An analytical mind

Desirable qualifying experiences (the nice-to-haves!): 

• Proven experience in a similar role would be highly desirable although not essential - we recruit based on attitude and skills
• A good leader and some experience in working within the education sector
• Computer Science or related degree

🏢 Job location:

This role will be based at our office which is situated at Wrest Park, Silsoe (MK45 4HR) with hybrid working up to 2-days available. All our engineers work in the office at least 3-days per week and have an amazing team culture. The role is to based in the UK only. We may be able to offer visa sponsorship to an exceptional candidate - if you require this please make this clear in your application. A relocation allowance may be available should you need to relocate for the role.

The role is offered on a full-time basis Monday to Friday (no weekends, yay!). The role is all-year-round (52 weeks), however, term time only would be considered. If this is your preference, please make this clear in your application.
