Job Description

  • The Software Engineering function in Ultra supports the software development lifecycle consisting of requirements analysis, design, implementation, test and verification in order to deliver software components into projects and products and supports the deployment and maintenance of software components.
  • A professional at this grade applies technical / professional knowledge, making independent judgements based on practice and significant previous experience to support decision making. Often seen as a referral point or more senior team member to escalate more complex problems. Roles will act independently with minimal guidance, and may act as project managers/formal mentors for junior staff.

Key Responsibilities as a Senior Software Engineer DevOps

  • Construction & Maintenance of the Software Development Environment
  • Collaboration with colleagues across the world to ensure the system is always available
  • Provide support to the application developers on an as needed basis
  • Linux Operating System configuration
  • Linux application management and deployment
  • Accountable for cost and schedule of assigned work
  • Skills, Qualification and Experience Senior Software Engineer DevOps

Hands on experience of DevOps practices and tools

  • VMware ESXi
  • Experience of Red Hat Linux application development
  • Red Hat certification (RHCSA, RHCE) or similar
  • Proficient with a variety of Software Configuration Tools including SVN and GIT
  • Degree in engineering, computer science or related subject
  • Knowledge of RedHat OpenShift
  • Knowledge of Red Hat configuration including production of Kickstart files
  • Knowledge of IP Network design and optimization
  • Knowledge of C++ or Java Development

  • Ability to rapidly apply generic knowledge to new problems in new environments
  • Knowledge of Software Engineering best practices, methodologies, processes and tools
