Position
Searching for a great Senior Systems Engineer or Architect to join our team of engineers. You will act as an escalation point for level 2 and 3 generalists, and work both independently and with other IT professionals and systems engineers to complete projects. You must be flexible, able to jump into an environment and quickly understand what must be done. This role requires strong systems architecting and engineering experience; networking experience is a plus.
This is a fully remote permanent position which primarily supports customers and teams based in the UTC-8 time zone, and you must be able to commit long-term to the schedule. Strong English verbal and written communication (C1/C2 preferred, though B2-level speakers may be considered) is required for the role; apply with an English resume to be considered.
Responsibilities
- Architect, configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and manage IT systems such as VMWare infrastructure, Windows Servers, web servers, Active Directory, O365, and Storage Systems
- Effectively troubleshoot IT-related issues in multiple unique client environments
- Analyze system environments and provide solutions for improvement and best practices
- Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
- Provide feasibility and schedule estimates in presales calls
- Participate in product research and implementation
- Provide training to technicians and other members of the team
- Plan and execute system projects
- Manage systems access
- Stay up-to-date with industry tools and practices, and upgrade systems with new releases
- Be available for occasional migrations and other needs after-hours
- Take on other responsibilities as needed
Preferred Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a systems engineer or architect
- MSP or data center experience
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and Management of environments such as VMware Horizon, Citrix, and MS Remote Desktop Services of 75+ users
- VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
- TrueNAS
- vSAN
- Security fabrics including EDR and DNS
- Databases
- Complex networks such as physical and virtual VLANs
- Various Windows operating systems and platforms
- Professional certifications in systems, cloud, and backup
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Windows DFS/ADFS, Active Directory, Group Policies, Exchange
- Ability to operate PowerShell effectively
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems)
- Knowledge of backup/recovery systems
- Experience working with software licensing and software partners.
- Experience working with different software/hardware vendor providers.
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
