Key Responsibilities
Design and deploy functional LAN, WLAN, and WAN networks for clients
Architect and maintain resilient Internet edge and data center routing infrastructure using BGP
Troubleshoot networks independently and collaboratively in internal and customer environments
Configure and troubleshoot firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco) and other network devices
Mentor team members, train engineers, and create/maintain technical documentation
Support network monitoring with SNMP and other tools, track time on projects/tickets
Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule

Description

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer or Architect to join our network engineering and design team. You will get to work with engineers, technicians, and other IT professionals on a variety of environments, projects, and problems. You should be strong in switching and routing on Cisco products, BGP, Wi-Fi, and network troubleshooting, design, and monitoring. Preferred candidates will also possess experience with firewall security architecture and/or configuration (Palo Alto and Fortinet).


Important Notes:

  • This is a long-term, fully remote, full-time contract position which supports UTC–8 business hours. Candidates must have the equipment, connectivity, environment, work ethic, availability, and responsiveness required to work effectively.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication are required, B2 minimum and C1/C2 preferred, as you will be working with English customers and coworkers. You must apply with an English resume/CV to be considered for this role.


Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
  • Architect and maintain resilient Internet edge and data center routing infrastructure using BGP
  • Troubleshoot networks on internal and customer environments independently and with other engineers
  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco) and other network devices
  • Mentor team members on technical issues, train current and future engineers
  • Support monitoring with SNMP and other products
  • Create and maintain complete technical documentation, drawings, and SOPs
  • Communicate with users and colleagues professionally
  • Fully track time and work done on internal and customer tickets and projects
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary


Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience designing network architecture for small businesses and enterprises
  • 7+ years of network engineering experience, preferably in an MSP or in other multi-tenant environments
  • Strong engineering and design expertise with BGP
  • Networking certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, PCNSC, FCX, FCSS, or equivalent knowledge


Preferred Experience:

  • Wi-Fi implementation and support
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of network devices including Cisco switches and routers
  • BGP in an MSPs, data centers, or other multi-tenant environments
  • TCP/IP, Layer 2 (VLAN), and Layer 3
  • Wireless (802.11x)
  • WAN NNI circuit
  • Palo Alto and Fortinet firewall configuration and network design
  • VoIP expertise


Compensation and Benefits:

Selected candidates' job grade and starting salary will be determined by the evaluation of factors including relevant skills, knowledge, and geographic location.


Employees who complete the first 90 days of employment will be eligible for Paid Time Off of up to 10 vacation/personal days, 5 sick days, birthdays off, and 8 company holidays each year.
