Key Responsibilities
Design, build and run scalable, secure shared backend services and APIs used by many product teams
Own larger services end to end, including monitoring, alerting, on-call follow-up and support for the teams that use them
Design APIs that stay stable: clear contracts, versioning, backward compatibility and safe deprecation
Build and improve identity and access features, such as sign-in, sessions, tokens, permissions and account security
Make shared services resilient: rate limiting, graceful degradation, isolation between consumers and safe rollouts
Improve observability with useful metrics, logs and traces, and set service level objectives with the teams that depend on you
Lead design reviews and give thoughtful code reviews
Investigate production incidents, run root cause analysis and ship lasting fixes
Mentor mid-level engineers and share knowledge within the team
Work with product engineering teams, Security, Infrastructure and Architecture to turn requirements into reliable solutions
