The role

As our senior QA engineer, you will own quality across the system from end to end: gating releases, keeping the testing honest, and building automation that makes our testing more efficient and our product more secure.

Our product spans web applications, mobile apps (iOS and Android), desktop clients (Windows and macOS), APIs, and physical hardware, and every release is tested on real devices in our lab before it ships. You will help build out our QA platform: a growing test-case library, automated suites for web, API and mobile, and an internal QA console that tracks runs and release sign-off. Your job is to shape it, grow it, and make it the thing the whole company trusts to answer "is this release good?"

This is not a pure automation seat and it is not a pure manual seat. In any given week you will write automation code, drive a physical test lab, file precise defect reports, and decide whether QA signs off on a release. Product, security, and engineering hold their own gates. The QA gate is yours, and no release clears it without you.

What you will own

• Release gating. Plan and execute release testing across every surface we ship: desktop clients (installers, upgrades, services, authentication flows), web applications and admin tooling, mobile apps, and APIs. Every release has an executed-run record; you keep that record, and QA sign-off is yours.

• Test planning and the test corpus. Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases, and keep the test-case library current as the product changes: triage, change requests, retirement, coverage mapping.

• Test automation. Build out and maintain the automated suites for web, API, desktop, and mobile. Keep tests traceable to documented test cases so it is always clear what automation covers and what still needs a manual pass. Own test data discipline so every run is repeatable, self-provisioning, and self-cleaning.

• The QA console. Extend the internal web app that tracks test runs, release sign-off, and coverage. You own what it needs to do and ship changes to it yourself, with support from engineering. You are comfortable working in a web app, not just testing one.

• CI/CD and reporting. Keep suites green on CI, keep the delivery pipeline healthy, publish results people can read (dashboards, trend reporting), and make failures actionable.

• Defects. Reproduce, isolate, and file clear, prioritized defect tickets; verify fixes; run regression and pre-release smoke passes. Review test results regularly and troubleshoot issues in the system under test.

• The test lab. Run the physical lab: desktop machines, mobile devices, and the hardware our product works with. Keep it documented so anyone can use it.

• Working with engineering and product. Get involved early: review stories for testability with product owners, pair with developers on repro, and raise risk upward before it ships, not after.

• Leadership. Mentor and guide QA team members as the function grows, set the testing standard, and keep the team current on QA tooling and practice.

• AI-assisted workflow. We use AI coding tools daily for test generation, maintenance, triage, and reporting. You review what these tools produce with a critical eye and use them to move faster without lowering quality.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support department and company goals.

The ideal candidate should have

• At least seven years in software QA, including several years owning test automation in production, not proof-of-concept.

• You have gated real releases and can describe a time you held one.

• Strong TypeScript or JavaScript skills (Python or Java also welcome). You can read application code, write page objects and fixtures, and ship small features in a modern web app.

• Modern browser and API automation: Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO, or Selenium.

• Experience testing desktop software on Windows and/or macOS: installers and upgrades, background services, and authentication or login flows.

• Git-based workflow: branches, early draft pull requests, code review, CI. You work in the open.

• Clear written communication. Others rely on your tickets, test plans, and run records.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment where you own outcomes, not tasks.

• A degree in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Nice to have

• Identity and access management: SSO, MFA, modern authentication protocols, desktop login.

• Hands-on Microsoft Entra ID or AWS administration: tenants, users and groups, app registrations, access policies for test environments.

• Mobile test automation on iOS and Android.

• Testing with physical hardware in the loop: wireless devices, readers, device farms.

• CI/CD ownership, including self-hosted build and test infrastructure.

• Security or cybersecurity product background.
