About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Corporate Payroll Manager to join Pacific Staffing and lead our payroll operations. This pivotal role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional responsible for overseeing the entire payroll lifecycle for a large workforce of over 500 employees. The Payroll Manager will ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintain compliance with applicable regulations, and manage a team of payroll specialists. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in payroll systems, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams. This role offers a hybrid work schedule based in Sacramento, CA, with relocation assistance available, and provides an attractive compensation package ranging from $135,000 to $155,000 annually, plus performance bonuses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; payroll certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of comprehensive experience managing end-to-end payroll processes at the corporate level.
- At least 3 years of payroll management experience for organizations with 500 or more employees.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
- Proficiency with payroll software and systems; experience with Dayforce is advantageous.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

- Oversee and execute accurate and timely processing of payroll, including salaries, benefits, commissions, taxes, and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and regulations.
- Maintain and update accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Calculate wages, tax withholdings, deductions, and benefits accurately and efficiently.
- Manage year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll software and systems, providing guidance and troubleshooting support.
- Prepare detailed payroll reports for management review and audit purposes.
- Supervise and mentor payroll staff, conducting performance evaluations and providing ongoing training and support.
- Coordinate closely with HR on employee data updates, new hires, terminations, and promotions to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to payroll processes and records.
- Collaborate with finance and HR departments to optimize payroll workflows and resolve issues efficiently.
- Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes and systems for increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll legislation, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
