Software Testing Engineer (Security Director Cloud and On-Prem Validation)

This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Testing Engineer to validate our cloud and on-premises security management platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in computer science and two to four years of experience testing networking and security products, particularly in cloud environments. This role requires proficiency in testing methodologies and automation tools, together with a comprehensive understanding of networking protocols and security mechanisms.

Role Overview

This position owns end-to-end quality validation for Security Director Cloud and Security Director On-Prem. The engineer will design and execute functional and regression testing across cloud-native and virtualized deployments, expand Python- and Playwright-based automation, investigate failures, and collaborate with development teams to validate fixes.

Key Responsibilities

• Test end-to-end systems built with microservices in Kubernetes environments hosted in the AWS public cloud and deployed on VMware and KVM hypervisors.
• Perform browser compatibility, end-user workflow, and traffic validation across supported web browsers to verify usability, functional behavior, and system response under expected conditions.
• Validate administrative workflows and functionality, document test scenarios, and verify that system logs are generated correctly and contain accurate information.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites using Python and Playwright; analyze failures, improve test reliability, and integrate automated tests into the team’s continuous integration workflows.
  
  

Required Skills And Experience

• Broad knowledge of networking, virtualization, and firewall technologies is essential for success in this role.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, including WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancers, IPv4, and IPv6.
• Working knowledge of core AWS cloud concepts and services is required.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, container technologies, and microservices architectures is required.
• Proficiency in Python programming is required.
• Proficiency in UI test automation using tools such as Playwright is required.

• Identify, document, and track software defects, and collaborate with development teams to ensure timely resolution and validation of fixes.
• Prepare detailed test reports and quality documentation that summarize test results, identified issues, risk assessments, and recommendations for improvement.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Two to four years of hands-on experience testing networking and security products across cloud-based or virtualized environments.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with UI test automation tools and frameworks, particularly Playwright.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Strong Python programming and scripting skills for developing and maintaining test automation.
• Hands-on experience using AWS for application deployment, testing, or troubleshooting is preferred.
• Relevant certifications in networking or security domains are advantageous.
