Applied Research Engineer

I am hiring an Applied Research Engineer for a next-generation AI company building core model and algorithm capabilities in-house.
Backed by approximately ¥10B in initial funding, the company brings together AI research and product engineering to develop proprietary models, inference technologies, and personalized AGI systems. Its engineers work directly with enterprise partners to translate these research capabilities into production AI systems across industries such as finance and manufacturing.

What you will do
• Design and build production AI systems using proprietary AGI technology and LLMs
• Develop RAG pipelines using enterprise documents and internal databases
• Build training, inference, and agent execution infrastructure
• Create LLM evaluation, benchmarking, and monitoring pipelines
• Improve output quality through prompting, fine-tuning, and inference control
• Design secure, reliable, low-latency backend systems
• Turn prototypes into maintainable enterprise AI products
• Share field insights with internal research and product teams

What we are looking for
• Backend development experience using Python, Go, or similar languages
• Experience building and operating cloud systems on AWS or Google Cloud
• Experience developing applications using Generative AI
• Ability to solve uncertain technical problems through rapid experimentation
• Business-level Japanese
