This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal, Data Analyst/BI Engineer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to build advanced data solutions that transform complex media and creative performance information into actionable business insights.

You will design scalable data models, reliable pipelines, and intuitive reporting tools that help teams make smarter decisions.

The position combines hands-on engineering expertise with strategic data ownership in a collaborative technology and marketing environment.

You will work closely with data scientists, creative teams, media specialists, and engineers to solve complex measurement challenges.

Accountabilities

The Principal, Data Analyst/BI Engineer will own the architecture, modeling, pipelines, and reporting infrastructure that powers media and creative performance measurement. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can translate business needs into reliable data solutions while establishing best practices for a growing data function.

  • Own the end-to-end creative and media data function, including architecture, data models, pipelines, reporting, and measurement solutions.
  • Design, build, and maintain data models that integrate media, creative, and performance data from multiple platforms.
  • Develop and manage ETL/ELT processes that ingest data from various sources into cloud data warehouses with a focus on automation, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain Looker dashboards and LookML models that serve as trusted measurement and reporting tools.
  • Create reporting solutions using additional visualization platforms where appropriate.
  • Establish technical standards, processes, and foundational decisions to support future growth of the data function.
  • Partner with data science, creative strategy, media activation, and engineering teams to translate business questions into actionable insights.
  • Apply strong digital media knowledge to structure datasets effectively and ensure performance reporting remains meaningful.
  • Manage data quality, documentation, governance, and reliability across cloud-based data environments.
  • Improve analytics workflows through disciplined engineering practices, automation, and scalable solutions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced data professional with strong business intelligence, analytics engineering, and data engineering expertise. They should have a proven ability to build data solutions independently, communicate effectively with clients, and apply technical skills to solve real-world marketing and measurement challenges.

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in BI, analytics, data engineering, or related fields, ideally within a client-facing or agency environment.
  • Advanced experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, SQL, and modern cloud data platforms.
  • Strong expertise in Looker and LookML, with experience developing analytics dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT development across multiple tools and data sources; familiarity with Matillion is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AWS and Google Cloud Platform environments.
  • Hands-on experience with paid media platforms such as Meta, Google/YouTube, and programmatic advertising ecosystems.
  • Understanding of media performance metrics, creative measurement, and the data generated by digital advertising platforms.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing practices, documentation, and structured data modeling.
  • Ability to independently own projects, define technical direction, and operate effectively with limited oversight.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with clients and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Python and/or R is beneficial.
