Job Description


Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Environmental Test Engineer to support an innovative aerospace organization located in Western TX through 100% onsite work. The Environmental Test Engineer will plan, coordinate, and execute environmental test campaigns to validate satellite hardware and systems for launch and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) operations. This individual will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure mission readiness through vibration, thermal vacuum, shock, and other environmental qualification testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform environmental testing including Thermal Vacuum (TVAC), vibration, and shock testing on aerospace components, subsystems, and fully integrated satellites.
  • Coordinate test schedules, logistics, and execution activities with internal engineering teams and external testing facilities.
  • Set up and support test instrumentation, including accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gauges, and data acquisition systems.
  • Analyze test results, investigate anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and provide recommendations for design and manufacturing improvements.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve environmental test equipment, procedures, and documentation while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on environmental testing experience supporting aerospace, defense, space, or other high-reliability systems.
  • Experience with TVAC chambers, vibration tables, shock test systems, DAQ hardware/software, and environmental test standards such as NASA GEVS and MIL-STD-810.
  • Experience with data analysis tools including MATLAB, Python (NumPy/SciPy), LabVIEW, Dewesoft, or similar testing platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience performing environmental testing on satellites, spacecraft, or spaceflight hardware.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace materials and performance in vacuum, thermal, vibration, and shock environments.
  • Experience leading test campaigns, vendor coordination, and failure investigations.

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $90K-120K (**depending on experience**) + Pay premium for shift + RSUs
    • Shift 2-Nights: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m. (4x10s)- 10% pay premium.
    • Shift 3- Weekends: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (3x12s)- 20% pay premium
  • $10K relocation bonus + 2 months of temporary housing allotment + $1000/ month stipend

  • Clearance Level: Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Location: 100% onsite in Western TX
