Job Description

Are you ready to challenge how a banking group aggregates, governs and reports risk data — and to help shape a stronger, more automated validation function for BCBS 239 / RDARR compliance?

As an Independent Validation Specialist, you will assess, challenge and enhance RBI Group’s risk data aggregation and risk reporting capabilities. You will work at the intersection of Risk, Finance, IT, Data Governance and Network Units, using a structured validation methodology, tool-supported assessments and evidence-based findings to strengthen regulatory compliance and management transparency.

You will be part of RBI’s Independent Validation setup for BCBS 239 / RDARR. Your mission is to independently validate whether risk data aggregation and risk reporting processes, systems, controls and evidence are accurate, complete, traceable, and aligned with regulatory expectations and internal requirements.

Your role at RBI:

  • Perform independent validation assessments across risk data aggregation, risk reporting, material KPIs, material reports, models, governance processes, systems and data chains.
  • Review evidence, challenge responses and assess whether processes, controls and documentation are sufficient to demonstrate BCBS 239 / RDARR compliance.
  • Contribute to end-to-end validation cycles: planning and preparation, questionnaire-based assessments, deep-dive reviews, scoring, validation reporting and closure discussions.
  • Use and further enhance tool-supported validation capabilities, including the Independent Validation Tool / Validation Engine, structured questionnaires, workflow support and reporting outputs.
  • Define clear, evidence-based findings and recommendations, including impact, root cause, remediation expectations and closure criteria.
  • Monitor remediation progress through the Independent Validation findings tracker and support due-date, escalation and closure-review processes.
  • Collaborate with local validators, Group stakeholders and subject-matter experts across Risk, Finance, IT, Data Governance and Network Units.

Your core competencies:

  • Experience in risk management, regulatory reporting, data governance, IT / data architecture, audit, compliance, consulting, control testing or validation activities.
  • Sound understanding of BCBS 239 / RDARR, risk data aggregation, risk reporting and the regulatory environment of a banking group.
  • Ability to challenge constructively, document conclusions clearly and translate technical or regulatory topics into management-ready messages.
  • High affinity for tools and data-driven work; experience with Excel and Microsoft 365 and SQL is expected, while, PowerApps, Power BI, Python or similar tools are an advantage.
  • Good communication and stakeholder-management skills in English; German or other RBI Group languages are an advantage.
  • Regulatory reporting is appreciated (interpretation of regulatory reporting requirements and checking the implementation)

What makes this role special:

  • You directly contribute to strengthening RBI Group’s regulatory compliance, supervisory readiness and quality of risk data used for decision-making.
  • You help shape a modern Independent Validation function that combines methodology, automation, tooling and Group-wide collaboration.
  • You work on topics with high management visibility, including findings, remediation, compliance scoring and Board-level reporting.
  • You operate in a cross-functional environment with exposure to Risk, Finance, IT, Data Governance, Network Units and senior management.
