Job Description
- Senior QA Engineer
- π Fully Remote (UK only) | Occasional Team Offsites
- π· Up to Β£60,000 + Benefits
I'm partnered with a fast-growing UK company transforming the way people buy cars. They are reimagining the customer experience through technology, automation and AI.
Most QA roles ask you to execute test cases. This one asks you to own quality.
They're looking for a Senior QA Engineer who enjoys getting stuck into products, working closely with engineers and product managers, and making a real impact on how software is delivered.
This is a hands-on role where manual testing remains the core focus. Around 90% of sprint work today is exploratory, functional and integration testing, with automation used to support stable regression rather than driving the day-to-day.
What you'll be doing
- Owning quality across customer-facing journeys and backend integrations.
- Designing test strategies, test plans and test cases from scratch.
- Working closely with Product and Engineering to identify risks before features are released.
- Performing exploratory, functional, API and integration testing across complex systems.
- Maintaining and contributing to an existing automation suite (Virtuoso), identifying sensible opportunities to automate repetitive regression scenarios.
- Supporting large platform changes, including backend migrations and evolving customer contact experiences.
- Helping shape QA practices as the platform continues to grow.

What they're looking for
- A strong background in manual software testing within modern product teams.
- Experience creating test plans, test strategies and owning quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Comfortable working across multiple teams, collaborating closely with Developers and Product Managers.
- Experience with API and integration testing using tools such as Postman or similar.
- Some automation experience using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or low-code platforms like Virtuoso. You don't need to be an automation specialist, but you should be comfortable maintaining and extending regression suites.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence technical discussions.
- A track record of delivering measurable improvements to product quality or testing processes.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting backend or platform migrations (for example Salesforce migrations or similar large integration projects).
- Exposure to conversational AI, chatbots, or customer contact platforms.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT to improve testing workflows or generate test ideas.
- Experience within Financial Services or another regulated environment.
Who will thrive here?
- Enjoys exploratory testing and understanding how customers use products.
- Knows when manual testing provides more value than automation.
- Likes working in fast-moving environments where priorities can evolve.
- Is pragmatic, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity.
- Wants to be a trusted voice on quality rather than simply executing tickets.
