Application Support Engineer - Healthcare Data Solutions

Accountabilities

• Provide advanced technical support by collaborating with service desk teams to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex customer incidents.
• Participate in major incident response, root cause analysis, and production issue resolution to minimize customer impact.
• Analyze business, product, and customer requirements to design scalable, maintainable, and high-performing technical solutions.
• Develop, test, implement, and support application enhancements and defect fixes in collaboration with Product, Engineering, QA, and Support teams.
• Work on software components, cloud infrastructure, configuration files, deployment tools, and related technical environments.
• Contribute to technical decision-making by evaluating technologies, recommending improvements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Act as a technical escalation point for complex production issues, project challenges, and implementation decisions.
• Maintain and improve development frameworks, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet security, privacy, quality, performance, and architectural standards.
• Support code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers or co-op students.

• Participate in an on-call production support rotation and provide after-hours assistance for critical incidents.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a coding program, diploma, undergraduate degree, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience in software development, particularly with Java.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting software applications.
• Strong understanding of unit testing, functional testing, and end-to-end feature development.
• Experience building and maintaining complex software systems.
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7 (V2, FHIR) is highly preferred.
• Experience with technologies including Hibernate, Spring, REST web services, and Git is an asset.
• Previous experience in application support, troubleshooting, or production issue resolution is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze technical challenges and deliver practical solutions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Preference may be given to candidates located in Ontario.
