About the Role
The Principal Business Analyst, Fraud is responsible for developing and optimizing fraud prevention strategies that protect both customers and the business. This role analyzes fraud trends, designs risk mitigation strategies, evaluates performance metrics, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance fraud detection capabilities while maintaining an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
Fraud Strategy & Risk Analytics
- Analyze application data to identify emerging fraud trends and potential system vulnerabilities.
- Design, implement, and optimize fraud prevention strategies across customer application processes.
- Evaluate fraud risks and recommend data-driven solutions to minimize financial losses.
- Continuously monitor fraud patterns and adjust strategies based on evolving threats.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Develop dashboards and performance reports to monitor fraud prevention initiatives.
- Analyze key performance indicators, including fraud detection rates, losses, customer verification, and strategy effectiveness.
- Build analytical models to support fraud investigations and business decision-making.
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
Testing & Optimization
- Design and execute A/B testing and Champion/Challenger experiments to evaluate fraud strategies.
- Assess test results and implement improvements based on performance data.
- Balance fraud prevention efforts with customer experience objectives.
- Support continuous optimization of fraud detection models and operational workflows.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Risk teams to improve fraud detection capabilities.
- Collaborate on the development of scalable fraud prevention solutions.
- Support strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer protection.
- Communicate analytical insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in business analytics, risk management, data analytics, or a related analytical role.
- Experience analyzing credit card, consumer lending, or financial services data.
- Hands-on experience designing and evaluating A/B testing or Champion/Challenger strategies.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with SQL, Python, or similar data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred
- Direct experience in Fraud Strategy and Fraud Analytics.
- Advanced expertise in SQL and Python.
- Experience working within fintech, banking, or consumer lending organizations.
- Experience supporting high-growth or startup environments.
- Knowledge of fraud detection methodologies and risk management best practices.
