Field Delivery Engineer - AWS Solution Engineering

Optomi, in partnership with our client, are seeking an experienced Field Delivery Engineer – AWS Solution Engineering to lead enterprise application modernization and cloud migration initiatives. This role will serve as a hands-on technical advisor, partnering closely with application teams to assess, plan, and execute complex migrations to AWS while ensuring scalability, security, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate has deep experience with AWS infrastructure, cloud migration strategies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and enterprise modernization efforts.

Role is fully remote (may be very occasional travel if needed)

Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end migration of enterprise applications to AWS cloud environments.
• Conduct application discovery, dependency mapping, and migration readiness assessments.
• Develop and execute migration strategies using industry-standard 6R methodologies (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, Retain).
• Estimate migration effort and timelines using application sizing methodologies.
• Design and implement AWS landing zones, networking, and account structures.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
• Develop automated deployment pipelines and repeatable migration frameworks.
• Implement cloud security controls, governance standards, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and application development teams to resolve technical challenges throughout migration efforts.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project stakeholders while ensuring successful migration delivery.

Required Qualifications:

Strong cloud engineering experience with AWS platform services.

Demonstrated success leading hands-on enterprise application migrations to AWS.

Deep expertise with AWS services including:

• EC2
• ECS and/or EKS
• RDS
• S3
• Lambda
• VPC
• IAM
• CloudWatch
• Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and cloud migration best practices.

Experience with AWS migration services including:

• AWS Migration Hub
• AWS Application Migration Service (MGN)
• AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional).
• Experience modernizing enterprise applications.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native deployments.
• Financial services or highly regulated industry experience.
• Previous experience supporting large-scale enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.

Nice-to-Have Experience:

• Apache Kafka and event streaming platforms
• AI-driven automation, agentic AI, or application modernization tooling
• Database migrations from Sybase or IBM DB2 to Amazon PostgreSQL
• Enterprise application modernization and transformation initiatives
