Job Description
Few people get to build a bank from scratch. Even fewer get to build one at a moment when banking itself is being reinvented.
The dollar is the best product in the history of the world, with practically infinite global demand, but distribution is broken. Global clearing runs on legacy banks that are closed 115 days a year, built for humans and take two days to settle. Augustus is the update to the internet era. We received conditional approval from the OCC to charter America’s first stablecoin-native clearing bank that is always open, made for machines, at the speed of compute.
We are a group of operators, unicorn early employees, ex-founders and people who walked away from degrees because they believe this is an industry and career defining opportunity. We're backed with $40M from Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures, Creandum and founders of Ramp, Deel and Circle.
We are regulated in Europe and live with Euro and Stablecoin clearing today. Now, we are building the US team from the ground up, while continuing to grow rapidly in Europe.
The Role
You own Banking Experience: the accounts at the centre of every customer's relationship with the bank, and the quality of the interfaces through which they interact with them - the API and the dashboard. Accounts (DDAs, FBOs, virtual accounts) are the product; the API and dashboard are how customers experience it. Your domain runs across accounts, API, dashboard, IAM, and the end-to-end customer experience.
The end state: an enterprise customer sets up an Augustus account and is moving money the same day - accounts that are effortless to create, an API that's a joy to integrate, and a dashboard with the speed and precision of the best modern software, not what anyone expects from a bank. Your job is to challenge the status quo - to take everything customers hate about bank interfaces and account setup, and build the version they've never been able to get from a bank before.
You'll get deep into the use cases our customers are building: how a stablecoin operator structures virtual accounts, how a fintech's engineers experience our API on day one, how an operator lives in our dashboard every day. That understanding lets you work with design and engineering to develop our platform to uniquely solve for our customers' needs.
You report to Will, Head of Product, and work closely with Simon, our CTO. You're expected to operate with full autonomy on your team's roadmap.
Your First 6 Months
- Months 1-2: You take over day-to-day ownership of the Banking Experience team - the roadmap, the ways of working, the hard decisions. You establish yourself with customers, getting deep on how they set up and use accounts and where we're falling short. You define and ship your first project.
- Months 3-4: Full execution mode. You're unblocking engineering daily, making hard prioritisation calls, and keeping the roadmap moving. You're raising the bar across accounts, API, and dashboard, and feeding what you learn from customers straight back into the product.
- Months 5-6: You're working with live customers on the products you've built, and deposits and account holders are scaling. You've moved from execution to platform mode - evolving the roadmap based on what your first customers are actually building on top of Augustus, and pushing the account and dashboard experience further than any of them expected a bank could go.

We believe throwing smart people with high agency at big problems produces the best outcomes. The people who succeed here share the following traits:
- Relentless: You can't leave something broken. You don't stop because it got hard or because no one is watching.
- Set the bar: You're harder on yourself than anyone else would be. You don't need external accountability to care about quality.
- Shape the Game: You don't wait for a playbook and you don't need one. You walk into genuinely new territory and figure it out. You move before anyone asked you to.
- Systems first: You don't solve problems by adding people or effort. You build systems that make the problem smaller. Your first instinct is to automate, not to handle it manually.
- You want to spend time with customers and translate what you hear into actionable insights for your team and our entire product strategy.
- Your ambition is to become the top 1% expert in banking experience — accounts, developer experience, and the interfaces on top of them. You go deeper than anyone asks, you know exactly where the points of leverage are.
- You have taste. You know the difference between a dashboard that works and one that people love, and you can't ship the former.
- You combine first-principles thinking with deep domain knowledge to build things that don't exist yet. You find the intersection of technically possible and uniquely valuable — and bring it into reality.
- You are excited about what the Programmable Bank can become and you're ready to be a meaningful part of building it. The magnitude of the opportunity doesn't intimidate you, it excites you.
- You're confident delivering on company-critical projects alongside an engineering team.
- You push the boundaries of what a PM can do by leveraging AI.

- You're not working directly with customers as part of your day to day.
- You think great products and fast shipping can't coexist in a regulatory environment.
- You need clear scope and a settled product before you can do your best work.
- 3+ years of experience end-to-end owning and building banking, fintech, or developer platform products.
- Technical enough to spar on architectural decisions with engineers - you're comfortable in API design discussions, not just UI reviews.
- Comfortable in customer-facing roles - you've pitched, demoed, and closed early adopters yourself.
- Based in New York or Berlin - this is an in-person role.
