Mac/ JAMF Engineer (100% Remote)

Overview:

The Mac/JAMF Platform Engineer is responsible for engineering, automating, and continuously improving the enterprise macOS endpoint platform. This role focuses on building scalable, standardized, and secure macOS solutions through automation, Infrastructure as Code, and modern platform engineering practices.

The ideal candidate has deep experience administering enterprise JAMF environments and enjoys designing, automating, and modernizing macOS infrastructure rather than simply supporting day-to-day operations.This engineer will partner closely with Endpoint Engineering, Identity, Security, and Platform teams to build reusable solutions, integrate enterprise systems, and deliver an exceptional end-user experience across the macOS environment.

Key Responsibilities:

macOS Platform Engineering:

• Engineer, implement, and maintain enterprise-scale macOS management solutions using JAMF Pro, including automated enrollment workflows, configuration profiles, policies, software deployment, and compliance management.
• Design and standardize macOS platform configurations to improve consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Modernize the macOS environment through automation, platform standardization, and infrastructure improvements.
• Optimize JAMF Self Service and user workflows to minimize manual support and improve the employee experience.
• Partner with Security and Identity teams to implement modern onboarding, authentication, and compliance-based access solutions utilizing Platform SSO and Microsoft Entra ID.

Automation, Infrastructure, & CI/CD:

• Build and maintain automation using Python, Bash, and other scripting languages to eliminate manual operational tasks.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform (preferred) or similar tools to provision and manage platform infrastructure.
• Utilize Git/GitHub version control and CI/CD pipelines to manage configuration, testing, and deployment of platform changes.
• Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise APIs and internal platforms to improve operational efficiency.
• Automate software packaging, deployment, patch management, and reporting processes.
• Improve operational visibility through reporting, telemetry, and proactive monitoring.

Software Delivery

• Package, test, validate, and deploy macOS applications and updates using JAMF Pro.
• Lead macOS engineering initiatives from design through implementation, testing, documentation, and operational transition.
• Continuously evaluate and improve software deployment methodologies and platform reliability.

Hardware Diagnostics & Device Lifecycle

• Diagnose and repair Apple hardware including MacBooks, iMacs, and Mac minis.
• Perform component-level repairs including displays, batteries, keyboards, and other replaceable hardware.
• Execute provisioning, rebuilds, migrations, upgrades, and lifecycle refresh activities.
• Validate device health following repairs and coordinate inventory and parts management.

Security, Compliance & Integrations

• Implement and maintain secure endpoint configurations aligned with enterprise security standards.
• Integrate JAMF with enterprise platforms including Microsoft Entra ID, ServiceNow, and other identity or ITSM solutions.
• Support security posture initiatives through compliance reporting, endpoint monitoring, and policy enforcement.
• Develop dashboards and recurring reporting to improve visibility into platform health and compliance.

Collaboration & Support

• Provide advanced engineering support for complex macOS platform issues.
• Collaborate with Endpoint Engineering, Platform Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Service Management teams.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, standards, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience engineering and supporting enterprise macOS environments.
• Strong experience administering enterprise-scale JAMF Pro environments.
• Experience building and automating macOS platforms rather than solely providing operational support.
• Strong scripting experience using Python and Bash.
• Experience with Git/GitHub version control.
• Experience implementing CI/CD methodologies for endpoint or platform engineering.
• Experience integrating enterprise platforms through REST APIs.
• Experience supporting Platform SSO and Microsoft Entra ID integrations.
• Advanced macOS troubleshooting and endpoint engineering experience.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing Apple hardware.
• Strong documentation, communication, and customer-facing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Experience modernizing enterprise macOS environments through automation and standardization.
• Experience integrating JAMF with ServiceNow and other enterprise ITSM platforms.
• Familiarity with endpoint security platforms, compliance reporting, and posture management.
• Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT) or similar Apple certification.
• Experience working within Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Endpoint Engineering organizations.
• Experience designing scalable automation frameworks for enterprise endpoint management.
