About This Role
In this role, you'll be a cornerstone of our IT operations, acting as the second line of support for complex technical issues and taking ownership of our core IT systems. We're seeking an engineer with a creative problem-solving and automation-first mindset, excited to build and refine processes using low-code platforms like Okta Workflows and Zapier. Your responsibilities will span system administration, SaaS management, and IT security, ensuring our hardware and software ecosystem runs securely and efficiently, with a strong focus on IT security. Work night shifts on a rotational basis (PST timezone) in a fully remote environment while helping maintain a secure, scalable IT environment that empowers Bolt to succeed.
Please note, this is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the option to convert to full-time after 3–6 months.
Responsibilities
- Ensure an exceptional level of IT system performance and provide top-notch support to users.
- Adopt an automation-first mindset, creatively solve problems, and build solutions independently or with guidance.
- Ensure a frictionless experience for all users, regardless of technical expertise.
- Resolve tickets as the second line of troubleshooting.
- Manage, maintain, and streamline our tech stack, from identity to endpoint (Okta, Google Workspace, Jamf, Intune, and more).
- Write documentation, log changes, and keep stakeholders informed.
- Develop business continuity procedures and maintain data backups.
- Directly contribute to employee productivity and satisfaction by ensuring a stable and efficient IT environment.
- Support global remote onboardings and offboardings while strictly following processes.
- Build and maintain Slack automations to streamline IT workflows.

- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of IT experience, particularly in Helpdesk, Specialist, or Systems Administration roles.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information from multiple perspectives.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting Windows and macOS environments, as well as working with G Suite and Microsoft 365
- Experience with macOS MDM (Jamf, Kandji, Intune) and SSO solutions (Okta, OneLogin, Google OAuth).
- Familiarity with low-code/no-code/PaaS solutions (Okta Workflows, Make.com, Zapier).
- Proven experience building automations or workflows to enhance productivity.
- High level of tolerance and flexibility to address complex cross-functional issues and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Basic experience with scripting and coding (Bash/ZSH/Python).
