Lead Product Designer (Bilingual; 20M JPY; B2C Mobile)

Company Description

Our client is a fast-rising AI startup creating their own proprietary LLM that is searching for a Lead Product Designer for its B2C-focused mobile app. This would require at least business level Japanese (enough to have internal discussions in Japanese and understand nuance) and at least conversational English (to speak with engineering teams and design the product for the US market). The salary would be up to 20 M JPY / annum and you'd work on a hybrid system of 2-3 days a week in office.

Position Description

This position takes complete ownership of the UX strategy, information architecture, and UI design for an upcoming global consumer platform driven by advanced, proprietary AI. You will establish unique interaction design principles for complex AI agent dialogue models and multi-modal interfaces while building and operating a scalable design system from scratch. Additionally, you will lead international user research to drive multicultural UX adaptation, transforming technical complexity into intuitive and trustworthy product experiences for global markets.

Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of experience shipping top-tier mobile as a senior or lead designer, ideally B2C
• Well-versed with Figma with a proven background building and maintaining complex design systems.
• Business-fluent English & Japanese ability
• Comfortable to take ownership and potentially lead the design team
