Company Description
YC-backed AI compliance startup building AI analysts for banks and fintechs, backed by $7.1M in funding, with customers across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and LatAm.
Job Description
This employer is a fast-growing AI compliance startup building AI analysts that automate the manual work behind KYC, KYB, AML, and transaction monitoring.
Banks and fintechs still rely on large teams of analysts to review businesses, monitor suspicious activity, check documents, and move information across messy internal systems. This employer's agents work inside browsers and customer systems like humans do, automating up to 90% of this manual work and helping customers reduce costs by 4x.
The company is YC-backed, already working with 15 customers, and has not lost a competitive deal yet. The team is small, technical, and growing quickly, with plans to hire 4 to 6 exceptional engineers as they scale the product and customer base.
As a Member of Technical Staff, you will build browser automation agents, optimize core compliance logic, and design end-to-end systems that sit directly on top of real customer workflows. This is a high-ownership engineering role for someone who wants to build fast, work closely with customers, and help define the product and culture at a pivotal stage.
Why this role is remarkable
- Build AI agents for one of the most painful, expensive, and operationally complex parts of financial services: compliance, onboarding, AML, KYB, KYC, and transaction monitoring
- Join a YC-backed startup with real customer traction, 15 customers already signed, $7.1M in funding, and a small team where every engineer has direct impact on product direction, technical architecture, and company culture
- Work on technically interesting problems across browser automation, cloud systems, AI agents, machine learning workflows, customer integrations, and edge-case-heavy compliance logic
- Competitive compensation with $240K to $300K base, meaningful equity, visa sponsorship, relocation support, and a San Francisco team that works intensely while staying close-knit

What you will do
- Build and deploy end-to-end systems on the cloud using Python, AWS, machine learning workflows, and AI agent infrastructure
- Automate browser agents for heavy integration work across customer systems, internal tools, and compliance workflows
- Optimize core product logic for KYB, KYC, AML, business onboarding, and transaction monitoring use cases
- Experiment with the latest AI models and design novel agentic workflows for real-world financial services operations
- Work directly with customers and prospects to understand their workflows, gather feedback, and turn messy operational problems into reliable product experiences
- Ship quickly while maintaining a high bar for quality, edge cases, reliability, and real-world production performance
The ideal candidate
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong end-to-end engineering background and a track record of building and deploying production systems on the cloud
- Ex-founder, early employee, technical lead, engineering manager, head of engineering, CTO, or senior startup operator with clear ownership over products, teams, systems, or customer-facing technical work
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, high agency, low ego, excellent communication skills, and the ability to challenge decisions without creating unnecessary friction
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment where priorities evolve, ambiguity is normal, and the best people proactively find the highest-leverage problems to solve
- Excited by AI agents, automation, fintech, RegTech, compliance, browser automation, and building software that replaces repetitive manual work with intelligent systems
- Bonus points for experience in FinTech, RegTech, financial services, compliance, crypto, enterprise software, or heavily integrated customer-facing systems
This role is not for you if
- You prefer tightly scoped tickets and do not want to own ambiguous problems end to end
- You are not excited about working hard in-person with a small team in San Francisco
- You are uncomfortable being challenged, taking feedback, or challenging others directly
- You have mostly been an individual contributor in large-company environments without clear evidence of startup ownership, product leadership, or production impact
- You do not enjoy building things outside of narrow job requirements
