BNSF’s Marketing team serves as a primary contact for all BNSF customers, working to make the shipping experience as easy and seamless as possible. From onboarding new customers to handling rate and service requests to answering billing questions, the Marketing team is focused on building strong customer relationships and ensuring effective communication throughout the shipping process. The team is organized into several critical business units to cater to diverse customer needs and industry demands: Agriculture and Energy, Consumer Products, and Industrial products, alongside specialized units for Customer Support, Forecasting, and Planning. Each of these units plays a role in tailoring our marketing strategies and services to meet the unique requirements of our wide-ranging customer base, ensuring a comprehensive and responsive approach to customer service and engagement.

The team is organized into several critical business units to cater to diverse customer needs and industry demands. Working in BNSF’s Agriculture & Energy unit based in Fort Worth, you will interact with all areas of BNSF as we work together to move the business forward. Each of these units plays a role in tailoring our marketing strategies and services to meet the unique requirements of our wide-ranging customer base, ensuring a comprehensive and responsive approach to customer service and engagement. This role as the market manager for southern wheat and wheat flour develops market and customer strategies which helps grow our position in this segment. It will work with various customers and groups across the value and supply chain, from growers, to commercial traders, to exporters and flour millers, to name a few. Key metrics are volume relative to market opportunity, revenue growth and maximization, business lead development and opportunities closed, and working across departments to identify efficiency opportunities. Helpful skills will be an understanding of grain markets and grain trading, preferably with southern wheat, strong communication skills, analytical abilities, results oriented, decisiveness.

This is a full-time position in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Key Responsibilities May Include

Develop and implement marketing strategies using current market information, competitive and economic conditions, and innovative programs.

Create account plans and pricing strategies, develop total transportation packages including equipment, service, and value-added services.

Respond to internal and external customer inquiries and solve problems as they arise.

Organization to juggle multiple tasks or projects with varying completion timelines – short term or immediate and long term.

Interact with customers to execute integrated account plans.

Optimize asset utilization in relation to the commodity/account plans and market strategies.

Prospect for and develop new business opportunities.

Determine fundamental customer service and business requirements and match to BNSF’s capabilities/limitations.

Responsible for the sales and marketing aspects of certain southern wheat and wheat flour within the Ag Marketing group.

Ensure quality service through coordination with various BNSF departments.

Serve as an internal expert over assigned markets and be able to clearly articulate expectations of future market changes through mediums like forecasts and presentations.

Manage markets to maximize market potential, including market share, revenue, and contribution.

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional work experience in Sales, Marketing, Rail Operations or a related industry
  • Able to effectively consider a wide range of internal, external and economic factors in developing and executing strategic plans
  • Posess excellent interpersonal and analytical skills as well as effective erbal and written communication skills and leadership
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a preference in Business, Marketing (B2B), Economics, Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering
  • MBA a plus.
  • Previous commercial experience within the rail industry, merchandising grain or general Ag industry
  • Able to develop and grow successful business relationships to achieve strategic goals
  • Able to develop and deliver customer presentations
