About the Role

 

To oversee, maintain and improve as required the geological database system and provide database support to Cowal Gold Operation. To support and participate in data management projects at Cowal and across Evolution as appropriate.

 

  • Oversee and maintain the content, function of and access to the specified site geological database such that it is in accordance with mineral resource reporting guidelines (e.g. JORC) and internal company standards.
  • Specifically, undertake and/or manage the below activities in a timely manner and as agreed with the role supervisor and in consultation with the site superintendents of Exploration, Resource Definition and Geology:
  • Validation, quarantine and import of newly collected data.
  • Maintain access to data in the site database for all data users via routine and ad hoc file exports, ODBC, API or other integration links.
  • Provision of validated data for Mineral Resource reporting.
  • Maintenance and filing of database software workspaces, objects, procedures and workflow documentation.
  • Facilitate Quality Assurance and Quality Control of assay sample and other data types by developing and managing appropriate database objects and workflows.
  • Digitisation, compilation, and validation of historical geological, geospatial, assay, and other relevant data, its import into the database or filing on the site server.
  • Data management improvement projects at the specified site.
  • Facilitate data management risk assessments and audits as appropriate.
  • Provide training, guidance and updates to new and existing database(s).
  • Report and pro-actively communicate with the Manager Geoscience, Geological Database Manager, and site geology manager or delegate on activities & plans.
  • Liaise with other internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Engage, manage, and assist contractors undertaking database audit, compilations or improvement projects or other activities.
  • Assist with the filing, management and version control of geospatial and geographic information system data for all users.
  • Participate in or support data management related activities and initiatives across Evolution sites and exploration projects as agreed with the role supervisor.
  • As required, work collaboratively with non-primary focused Evolution site(s) and/or projects to provide support to maintain basic database function and accessibility.
  • Adhere, demonstrate and contribute to Evolution’s values, principles, standards, strategy, and plans.
  • Maintain in good standing the company’s relationships with government authorities and other parties.

 

About You

 

  • Tertiary qualification (Bachelor) majoring in geology or geoscience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in geological database management or as a geologist in the mining industry
  • Task management and organisational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving
  • Attention to detail
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Some knowledge of Datashed database management software and/or SQL programming.
  • Knowledge of (preferably proficiency in) GIS software such as QGIS.
