Job Title: Senior HR Manager

Location: Tyler, TX

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: Corporate HR Director

Direct Reports: Tyler Plant HR Staff

Travel: As a salaried employee, you may need to travel to other facilities, attend Company events, or represent the Company as required. The amount of travel may vary, and the most qualified candidate should be willing and able to travel as needed.

Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional Saturdays as needed.

Job Summary

The Senior Human Resources Manager is based in the Tyler, TX Complex (Plant & Corporate) and is responsible for the manufacturing plant and the office next door, where the corporate function is located. This position is a highly significant strategic partner for the plant and the corporate team, as well as the primary backup for the Director of HR.

This is an ideal role for a seasoned HR leader, comfortable both on the shop floor and in strategy sessions. Success in this role means excelling at running day-to-day HR, demonstrating strong floor presence, and moving the HR team towards consistent, people-focused delivery, while preparing for the future, aligning with enterprise initiatives, and working towards overall HR transformation.

This role directly supervises a group of HR professionals. It is critical to drive modern HR, systems implementation, leadership capacity building at the plant, and cultural alignment for the Tyler Complex.

Key Responsibilities

HR Leadership

  • Oversee all Human Resources functions for the Tyler Complex, including Plant operations and corporate offices, in collaboration with the HR Director.
  • Be very visible and available on the production floor, setting the expectation for strong employee connection, responsiveness, and credibility.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to plant leadership on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Act as the primary point of escalation and decision-making support in the absence of the HR Director

Strategic Partnership & Alignment

  • Partner closely with the HR Director and Corporate HR COEs to ensure alignment between Plant execution and enterprise-wide people strategies.
  • Translate corporate initiatives into practical, plant-ready solutions while providing feedback from the field to improve strategy and implementation.
  • Support leadership alignment with the company’s operating and COE model, reinforcing consistent expectations, accountability, and culture.

Talent, Capability & Team Development

  • Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding, development, and offboarding processes for the Tyler Complex.
  • Identify workforce capability gaps at the plants and partner with Talent Management and L&D teams to address development, readiness, and succession needs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the local HR team, reinforcing strong HR fundamentals while elevating strategic thinking and ownership.

Employee Relations, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEO, FMLA, FLSA, and I-9 requirements.
  • Lead employee relations matters, investigations, corrective action, and conflict resolution with sound judgment and consistency.
  • Administer HR policies and procedures, evaluate effectiveness, and recommend improvements aligned with business needs.

Systems, Payroll Partnership & Modern HR Practices

  • Partner closely with Payroll and HRIS teams to ensure accurate execution, data integrity, and employee understanding.
  • Support HR system transformations, process improvements, and adoption of modern HR tools and practices.
  • Maintain accurate staffing reports, workforce data, and documentation to support decision-making and compliance.

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure ongoing training for employees and leaders on policies, compliance, leadership expectations, and people management practices.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and strengthen HR processes to improve efficiency and employee experience.
  • In collaboration with the HR Director, support the development of other HR talents and key initiatives across the whole company.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive human resources experience, including leadership experience in a manufacturing or operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting both hourly and salaried populations in a complex, fast-paced setting.

Highly Preferred

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Experience in protein, food manufacturing, or CPG environments
  • Bilingual
  • Experience supporting system implementations or HR transformation initiatives
  • Broad HR experience

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong command of HR fundamentals with the ability to apply them practically in an operational environment.
  • Proven ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking and enterprise alignment.
  • High credibility with frontline employees and leaders alike; comfortable on the production floor.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of how HR impacts safety, quality, productivity, and culture.
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to lead through influence, coach others, and operate effectively in ambiguity and change.

Work Environment

This job is carried out in a professional office setting and involves using standard office equipment like laptops, desk phones, and smartphones. Regular visits to production facilities may also be required. During those visits, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperatures, and electrical shock and vibration risks. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Physical Demands

Employees must be able to stand, walk, or sit; use their hands for tasks; reach with their arms; and communicate verbally. Occasional lifting or moving of objects is necessary, along with close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
