About Payman
Payman is the trusted layer for AI and money. We give AI Agents access to money in scoped, responsible ways — through custom wallets built on top of existing payments and banking APIs. Developers use Payman to connect accounts, define guardrails, and enable agents to transact safely via ACH, wire, or stablecoins. Backed by Visa, Coinbase, Freestyle, and Circle, we're building the foundation for how AI interacts with the financial system.
About the role:
We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer who ships fast and takes ownership. This role is for someone who's obsessed with crushing tickets, building product, and moving quickly. You'll work across the stack — building secure payment infrastructure, integrating with banking APIs, designing clean interfaces, and leveraging AI to accelerate development. You'll collaborate directly with the founding team and have a direct impact on how banks and developers use AI to handle money safely.
- Ship Fast: Own features end-to-end, from API design to UI implementation. Ship quickly, iterate based on feedback, and keep momentum high.
- Build Core Infrastructure: Work on payment orchestration, banking integrations (ACH, wire, stablecoins), guardrail engines, and secure agent execution frameworks.
- Leverage AI: Use AI coding tools to move faster, prototype ideas, and solve problems — while knowing when to step in and write critical code yourself.
- Take Initiative: Identify problems, propose solutions, and execute without waiting for permission. You'll have autonomy and trust to do what needs to be done.
- Collaborate with Customers: Work closely with banks and developers to understand their needs and build solutions that just work.
- Own Quality: Write clean, maintainable code. Build systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
You should have:
- 5+ years of full stack engineering experience (or equivalent demonstrated ability to ship product).
- Strong proficiency in modern web frameworks (React, Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, etc.).
- Experience building APIs, integrating third-party services, and working with databases.
- AI-native mindset: Comfortable using AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to accelerate development while maintaining code quality.
- Obsessed with shipping — you measure success by what gets built and deployed, not just what gets discussed.
- Self-starter who takes initiative, solves problems independently, and thrives in ambiguity.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a distributed team.
Bonus points:
- Experience with fintech, payments, or banking APIs.
- Background in security, compliance, or financial infrastructure.
- Experience working at early-stage startups or shipping 0→1 products.
- Interest in AI agents, crypto, or the intersection of AI and finance.
