About the Role
Looking for an experienced Insurance Business Analyst to partner with the data strategy team of a large insurer. The ideal candidate will work closely with underwriting, data, and technology teams to enhance underwriting systems, streamline processes, and support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to translate business rules, risk criteria, and compliance needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
- Document existing underwriting workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Work closely with IT, developers, and QA to ensure underwriting logic is implemented accurately.
- Create and execute test cases; validate system outputs against underwriting guidelines.
- Serve as a liaison between underwriters, data teams, and technology teams—ensuring alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Ensure underwriting systems adhere to regulatory standards and data privacy requirements.
- Validate data accuracy and completeness flowing into the underwriting systems.
- Support data integration efforts with downstream systems (policy admin, analytics, reporting).
- Contribute to data structuring and modernization initiatives as part of the data strategy team.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of insurance underwriting processes, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
- Hands-on experience with underwriting platforms such as Guidewire PolicyCenter, Duck Creek, or similar policy/underwriting systems.
- Proficiency with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
- Exceptional communication skills—able to simplify complex concepts for diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Experience working with global teams; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Highly self-driven and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
