Principal AWS Cloud & DevOps Specialist – Fintech Transformation

Are you a seasoned cloud transformation leader with deep AWS expertise and financial services experience?

Our client is a major global fintech organisation, generating over £10 billion in annual revenue, and embarking on a strategic cloud transformation programme. They’re looking for a Principal-level AWS Cloud & DevOps Specialist to lead this journey; starting with mobilisation and assessment phases, progressing into engineering delivery, and heading up a dedicated squad.

This is a consulting-led role with a strong engineering follow-through. You’ll be instrumental in shaping scalable, secure cloud architectures across both greenfield and legacy environments, within a regulated financial context.

Only applicants based in the UK will be considered. This role is fully remote and outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead cloud transformation strategy and execution across complex AWS environments.
• Conduct initial mobilisation and assessment phases, guiding the transition to modern cloud infrastructure.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and automation frameworks.
• Manage and mentor a high-performing squad through delivery phases.
• Ensure operational reliability and seamless integration during migration.

Required Skills & Experience:

• AWS DevOps Tools: Terraform/OpenTofu, modular IaC, policy-as-code.
• CI/CD & GitOps: AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI.
• Scripting & Automation: Python, Bash, PowerShell; config management with Ansible or AWS Systems Manager.
• Monitoring & Observability: CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Cloud-Native Delivery: EKS/ECS for containers, Lambda & Step Functions for serverless.
