We’re a small, agile team with a big mission: to redefine how companies hire. We’re now looking for a Backend Developer to help build and scale the core of our platform.
The Role
As a Backend Developer, you’ll design, develop, and maintain the backend infrastructure powering Hirz.ai. You’ll work with a modern stack and have significant influence over architecture, scalability, and product direction.
This is your chance to build an AI-driven platform from scratch and solve real-world hiring challenges in a high-growth startup environment.
What You’ll Do
- Build the Core: Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python, FastAPI, and Pydantic/SQLModel.
- Own the Data: Manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases — schema design (Alembic), complex queries, and ORM handling (SQLAlchemy/SQLModel).
- AI Pipelines: Develop async pipelines for CV parsing, LLM integrations, and video transcription with AWS Transcribe.
- Cloud & DevOps: Deploy and manage AWS infrastructure (Cognito, S3, RDS, SQS) with Terraform and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
- Product Lifecycle: Participate in product design, architecture, deployment, and continuous improvement.
Who You Are
- Strong experience in Python and backend frameworks like FastAPI.
- Solid grasp of PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, and async programming.
- Experience with AWS and Terraform (or similar IaC tools).
- Comfortable using AI coding assistants (Copilot, Claude Code, Gemini Code Assist, etc.) to speed up development.
- Familiarity with OAuth2, OIDC, JWTs is a plus.
- Startup mindset — you like moving fast, owning problems, and shipping clean solutions.
