Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Tax Free Salary: Permanent role :- Equivalent of €100,000 - €110,000 per annum (depending on experience)
This is an opportunity to join the Directed-energy Research Centre as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer who will be involved in contributing to laser systems engineering and integration within the Laser System Engineering division of the High Power Lasers and Applications department.
Responsibilities:
-Writing and debugging code to develop and optimize robust software solutions for system/sub-system levels, alongside debugging procedures.
-Applying GPU programming expertise for image processing tasks utilizing libraries such as OpenCV and PIL.
-Implementing neural network architectures like CNNs using TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras to perform optimized image analysis.
-Improving system performance through seamless software integration and execution.
-Generating comprehensive documentation covering software design specifications, software system architectures, debugging protocols, and software validation tests.
-Contributing to academic research papers, case studies, and industry publications, particularly in the realm of cutting-edge technologies or inventive software engineering solutions.
-Collaborating closely with project and department team members.
-Engaging in multidisciplinary discussions within the activity domain of DERC members, and contribute to multidisciplinary discussions within the DERC domain.
Key Skills
-Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Software Engineering or a closely related field.
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in Research and Development department or industry.
-Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB, Node.js, or Java for object-oriented programming (OOP).
-Proficiency in GPU programming for image processing, utilizing platforms like CUDA or OpenCL.
-Familiarity with FPGA programming, digital firmware, and embedded software.
-Familiarity with various IDE platforms including VS Code, QT Creator, and Visual Studio.
-Practical experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, alongside serverless architecture.
-Possessing practical knowledge of electronic boards, logic circuits, and electrical connections to ensure seamless hardware-software interfacing.
-Skilled in managing both relational and NoSQL databases.
-Solid grasp of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications.
-Proficient in various communication protocols, facilitating effective system integration and data exchange.
-Ability to analyze problems critically and develop effective design optimizations.
-Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
