Consul Democracy aims to support governments at the national and local level to increase the quantity and quality of public participation and direct democracy in decision-making through the use of the prize-winning, open source digital platform, CONSUL DEMOCRACY. Over 135 institutions from around the world in more than 35 countries have joined the Consul project including cities, national governments, regions, universities and civil society organizations, and are using the CONSUL software to facilitate collaborative decision-making with their citizens or audiences. Mission To increase worldwide the quality and degree of public participation and direct democracy in government decision-making. Vision More and more public authorities around the world will start using the CONSUL DEMOCRACY platform enabling citizens to directly take the important decisions of their governments. This will not only result in higher quality decision making, it will also have a substantial impact on government and governance by making these more open, transparent and accountable, whilst also engendering higher levels of trust in democracy at large.
