About The Role

The Software Engineer role at Meritus is a fully remote, contract-based position designed to support a significant public sector project within a Central Government client. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining secure software applications leveraging the latest .NET technologies, including .NET 6+. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and deliver high-quality, scalable software that meets the project's objectives. This position requires active security clearances (SC & NPPV3) due to the sensitive nature of the work involved. The contract duration is initially six months, with extensions highly likely based on project needs and performance.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in software development with proven experience in C#, ASP.NET, and the .NET framework. Active security clearances such as SC and NPPV3 are mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of API development and consumption, particularly XML and JSON formats. Experience with unit testing frameworks like MSTest is essential to ensure the delivery of reliable and high-quality software. A background in working within secure environments and familiarity with government standards will be advantageous. Additionally, candidates should have excellent analytical skills to interpret technical requirements effectively and translate them into functional solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, and .NET 6+ technologies.
• Create and consume XML and JSON APIs within secure environments, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and refine technical requirements to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Write and execute unit tests using MSTest or similar frameworks to validate software functionality and quality.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging to maintain high standards of code quality.
