Overview
The Senior Information Security Engineer will play a critical role in safeguarding our digital assets, systems, and infrastructure. This position requires a hands-on professional with at least 5 years of experience in information security, a passion for mentoring junior team members, and the flexibility to adapt to the unique challenges of a small company. As a key member of our Blue Team, you will help design, implement, and maintain security measures that align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform hands-on SOC and incident response activities — continuously monitor, detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents across on-premise, data center, and cloud environments.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards tailored to Quorum’s business and regulatory requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).
- Document and track all security incidents from initial detection through containment, eradication, and recovery, including post-incident analysis and lessons learned reports.
- Oversee and manage relationships with Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and Managed Security Service Providers (MSSP) to ensure effective threat detection, triage, and response capabilities.
- Coordinate with MSSP/MDR teams to ensure tool performance, health monitoring, proper alert routing, and continuous improvement of detection and response processes.
- Perform regular scanning and analysis for vulnerabilities across cloud, network, and infrastructure environments, prioritizing remediation and validating risk reductions.
- Enforce strong security controls across AWS, Azure, and Quorum’s hybrid cloud infrastructure, including secure configuration, IAM, network segmentation, encryption in transit and at rest, and continuous logging and monitoring.
- Collaborate with IT, CloudOps, and Engineering teams to ensure secure configurations and hardened operations of servers, endpoints, applications, and network components.
- Support audits and compliance programs (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, CPRA) by preparing documentation, evidence, and assisting with control validation.
- Participate in and enhance the incident response program — lead tabletop exercises, develop and maintain playbooks, and continuously improve organizational readiness.
- Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies, applying relevant intelligence to proactively improve detection and prevention capabilities.
- Contribute to risk assessment and mitigation activities, ensuring that security controls align with business priorities and threat landscape evolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of maintaining Quorum’s secure and resilient operations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in information security roles.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001) and best practices.
- Proficiency in using and managing security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners).
- Knowledge of secure application development, threat modeling, and code reviews.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with a cool head.
- Effective communication skills and a proven track record of mentoring and training team members.
